Getting Through The Tough Times In Life

Is your life feeling hard right now?

Sometimes it feels like the world is out to get you. If you’re going through a difficult time right now in your life, then my heart goes out to you because I’ve been there all-too often. I know some of the heartaches and pain that comes along with major failure. I know what it feels like to have my life flipped upside down, not knowing where to turn or what to do next.

“Don’t forget you’re human. It’s okay to have a meltdown, just don’t unpack and live there. Cry it out and then refocus on where you are headed.” Unknown

Life is tough. Life is challenging at some point. I’ve experienced the toughness on it. No matter how much it hurts, hold your head up and keep going. You were given this challenge because you are strong enough to handle it. Use each setback, each disappointment as a cue to push on ahead with more determination than ever before.  Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle.

The toughness of life finds me and gives me light and reminds me to stay positive and stay strong. So regardless of how much difficulty you’re facing, or how much strife you’re in at the moment, tough times don’t last.

“Tough times don’t last, but tough people do. And I’ve been through some tough times, and I know a lot of people can recall tough times, and maybe are going through some tough times right now, but they don’t last.” — Alonzo Mourning

Choose to be positive and keep going.

Learn to trust the journey even when you don’t understand it.  The strongest people aren’t the people who always win, but the people who don’t give up when they lose. “Keep Calm and Carry On”. Smiling doesn’t always mean you’re happy with everything.  Sometimes it just means you’re strong and smart enough to accept it and make the best of it.

“Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.”
– Joshua J. Marine

Remember you are not alone.

We’ve all faced loss, fear, heartbreak, and sadness. Many of us are fighting the same exact battle alongside you. We are all in this together. Let yourself lean on your loved ones and open up to them. No, they won’t always be able to pull you out of the challenge you’re in, but they will be able to give you some light and love on your way through. We all go through a lot and it feels like we are teared down but we are still here, we are still standing.

God never promised that our way would always be “easy,” or that His Presence with us meant a life of convenience or comfort. But He did promise this, over and over in His word: that He would be “with us” in it all, and would never leave us.

Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

No matter what happens to us, our foundation must be Christ.

Rely on your faith and lean on to Him. Whatever you believe in — God, Allah, Buddha or the Spiritual Oneness that binds us all — learn to rely on your faith and remember that this too shall pass.

“Every person, young and old, has had his own personal experience with falling. Falling is what we mortals do. … With faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and the power and hope of the restored gospel, you will be able to walk tall and continue on” (Dieter F. Uchtdorf, “You Can Do It Now!” Ensign, Nov. 2013, 57).

Through Jesus Christ, you can experience a personal relationship with God and enjoy a life of peace and hope.

God has given you another gift. Now that you have believed in Jesus, God has sent His Holy Spirit to live in your heart. The Holy Spirit will help you in your new life and teach you about God. God tells us His Holy Spirit is our Comforter and Counselor, who will bring us peace and guide us into all truth. God has made it possible for you to know Him and experience an amazing change in your own life.

God loves you and has an incredible future planned for you. In the Bible, God tells us:

“For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

Whether today’s starting out rough, your bad day is finally over, or you’re right n the middle of the worst day ever, there’s someone who can make it better because there is Jesus who knows exactly what you’re going through and how to help. All you have to do is pray and ask for his help.

Those are some reminders that might help you through challenges and tough times. Whatever you might be going through you know that you will get through it, you will be stronger for it, and you will find more greatness out of life because of it.

Take a deep breath. No matter how hard things seem right now, you can and will get through this.
